Lyrica Garrett, born to a penticostal paster, was raised in Dallas, TX. At age 12, she became the musical director for a youth choir. Destined for stardom, after many competitions she went on to win Mx. Darling Dallas. After being discovered as a teenager by the diva Ms. Tina Turner, Lyrica moved to California and toured the US and Europe. After which she went on to tour for 2 years with the Broadway musical production of "The Wiz". Her first recording contract was signed with Warner Brothers Records, where she debuted as lead singer for the platinum-selling group "The Undisputed Truth" ("Smiling Faces"). Her recording credits include: Rick James ("Street Songs"), Sly Stone & Jesse Johnson of The Time ("Crazy For You"). Credits also include touring and recording with Chaka Kahn, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross and gospel legend Andre Crouch. |
